Sponsorship
Unfortunately it is too late to sponsor us for the rally, if you want to sponsor anyone else doing the rally check the teams out at the Mongol Rally website.
A HUGE thanks has to be said to those who sponsored us for the 2007 Mongol rally, in total we managed to raise a massive £2154.80, that's a full £1254.80 over and above the minimum needed to partake in the rally. At the last count (19/1/08) £833 was raised for Send a Cow and £1,321.80 for Mercy Corps Mongolia, these pages are available for donations until the 28th of March 2008.
The two sponsors that benefitted from these donations were Mercy Corps Mongolia and Send a Cow. For more details on the charities check out their pages by hitting the relevant logo:

The final total raised by the 2007 Mongol rally is yet to be published, but £40,000 were raised through the sale of the vehicles that made it in Ulaan Baatar. Mel made 610,000T (Mongolian Tögrög), which sounds like a lot of money but it is only worth approximately £261, but each little bit helps to increase the total raised for charity
The Mongol Rally
The Mongol Rally began in Hyde Park, London on the 21st of July 2007. Some 200 teams started the rally, Some didn't even make it to the ferry at Dover, some were beyond repair by the time they got to Calais, France and one team had to drain their fuel tank in the hotel car park in Prague, Czech Republic.
Of the 200 teams that started only 132 managed to get their trusty steeds to the finish line in Ulaan Baatar and complete the whole journey.
The Mongol Rally began in 2001 when 2 friends chose to drive their Fiat 126 to Mongolia as it was the most ridiculous place they could think of. Although they never made it to Mongolia because they did not know that a visa was needed to leave Europe! The enjoyment of the first trip was enough to convince the pair to encourage others and try again.
In 2004 the rally's first event proper occured, 6 teams entered with 4 finishing.
In 2005, 43 teams entered and 18 finished.
In 2006, 167 teams entered and 117 finished.
In 2007 200 teams have entered the rally, 132 had finished by September 2007.
In 2006 £200,000 was raised for charities, the aim this year is to beat it and raise £250,000 for the charities. A similar amount is proposed to be raised for this years rally.
